Day 5

Wednesday was our last day of VBS. It was really sweet to see some of the people from last year at VBS again this year. The people of Homer are very independent and rugged. It takes a special person to live in this kind of climate. Once again, your kiddos did exceptionally well pouring into the VBS kids and loving on them. We could tell by day three that some of them were really tired and it took everything within them to muster the energy to finish strong.

Today is Thursday and it’s our “culture” day so we are down on the beach and riding horses on the frozen beach. It’s pretty chilly so we started a fire to keep some warmth- hot chocolate helps too! We will then head back to Anchorage and stop for a gondola ride to get to the top of a mountain for some marvelous views then head to the Iditarod festival and then top off the evening at a cool Alaskan restaurant called Bear Paw. We will get to the airport tomorrow about 10 AM as our flight leaves at 12 noon.
