Bon bini! What an amazing day! Our flights went off without a problem, no delays, no lost luggage, and there were new parental permission regulations when we landed that we were not made aware of until the American Airlines attendants in Phoenix brought them to our attention but God intervened miraculously and it didn’t matter at all. When we reached the customs agent, he asked where we were working and staying and why, so I told him Iglesia Bida Nobo for service work. The Lord placed this man in our booth (1 of 6) and said he was a member of the Iglesia Bida Nobo congregation on Bandabou. He proceeded to let all of the students through customs and never even looked at their immigration papers, parent permission slips, nor did we have any conversation about the new parental permission papers the island issues. What a blessing! After we loaded up the vans with our luggage we drove straight to the church, unloaded, changed our clothes and went for a tour of the neighborhood. We concluded the tour with delicious fresh fruit batidos (smoothies) and then walked back to the church to get ready for dinner and YouthExplore. Everyone feasted on chicken, fries, and salad before the youth meeting. All of the teens enjoyed worship, icebreaker games and fellowship in conjunction with a timely message about conflict. After the meeting everyone headed outside for a very competitive game of soccer. At ten we debriefed and now the students are showering and getting ready for bed. Tomorrow will be our first service project here at the church and we all need a good night sleep so we are ready to work hard in the morning.
