“Today we started out in our second village again, putting on a medical and eyeglass clinic in the morning. We then came back to the boat, swam, rested, ate, and recovered, then went back out to the same village to do some kids ministry. It wasn’t exactly what we were expecting, but we ended up getting to play, color, blow bubbles, and play soccer with the kids in this community. Several of our students even shared the gospel with them through the bracelets. We had to pull our kids away to end things as the people in the village just wanted to hang out! Something that I personally found fascinating was that one of the ladies told Mr. Rugg and I that usually they get about two of these medical/ministry boats to stop by per year, but it had been two years since they had last come! This was encouraging because sometimes it feels like we can bring so little to these people, but even our presence and knowing people cared meant a lot to them! We then came back to the boat for dinner and did puppet training, which was hilarious and maybe one of the highlights of the trip!” - Clausen
MEDICAL CLINIC & EYEGLASSES CLINIC
“The medical clinic may seem very simple to us especially with the over the counter medicines we were using, but to the people of the villages it was like a miracle, not how it worked but that they were able to obtain medicines that they can’t afford. Us bringing medicines to them helps them in ways we couldn’t imagine, if we’re sick it’s easy for us to go and buy medicine for them every trip out of their village is expensive and so us bringing it right to them was a gift from God.” - Tyler
“While some people were doing the medical clinic, me and some other people were playing with the kids that were there. Something I loved about them was they were so happy about the little things. Everything we did or gave them there was so much joy in their faces. I loved playing soccer and blowing bubbles with them. They were so much fun to be around because of their joy.” -Ellie P
“When a person went to the eyeglass clinic we would first have them read different lines to guess their perscription. After that they would try different strength of glasses to figure out what would work. They would then choose their own frames. After we were done we had given glasses to 20-30 people” - David
KIDS MINISTRY:
“We went and played with a lot of the kids in the village. We played soccer with them, we colored with them, and we made bracelets with them. It was super cool because Ioli taught me and Giana how to make origami butterflies and hearts for the kids.” - Peyton
“Yesterday we played soccer with one of the little kids and he kicked the ball between our legs with the bridge we made and he got so happy and was jumping up and down clapping. I really enjoyed seeing the joy on all the kids faces. “ - Wilson
“While the other students were playing with the kids in the main area, a group of kids wanted to go play a full soccer game with goals. So a group of us walked a little bit to an area with two goals and split into two teams. We played a game of soccer and the little kids were a lot better than us but it was so fun, and my team ended up winning!” - Libby
