Our first full day on Helene was packed full of fun! We started our morning with a delicious breakfast and got ready to go to church. There are 3 churches on the island that we split up between. Two were close, and one was about a 20 minute walk. We were able to worship and hear the Word preached.
After church and lunch, we prepared to go spelunking. Our guide, Peter, took us through the jungle to a small opening in the ground that led into a very deep cave. We avoided bats and spiders as much as possible, and we all made it back out, just with a little extra dirt on us.
After we returned to the MEi clinic, a lot of children began to gather. The students played futbol (soccer), played on the playground, braided hair, and played hide and seek with the kids for the rest of the afternoon before dinner.
Dinner was delicious! Pork, vegetable, beans, rice, and fresh coconut bread. Yum! We spent some time together discussing the day and the students ended it by playing football. We are all ready for some rest and ready to get to work tomorrow!
