Today we woke up before the sun rise and were off on a safari. In small groups, we were able to ride around in safari trucks to get good view of all the animals Kenya has to offer. The safari did not disappoint, as we got a close look at giraffes, ostriches, guinea fowl, storks, eagles, buffalo, a rhinoceros, impalas, antelope, hippos, and crocodiles. One rare thing we saw was a hyena nursing her pups next to the road because her den was flooded. The most incredible sighting though was a female lion that walked straight toward our trucks and crossed the road in front of us, and then later made a reappearance strolling down the street next to us. After a long morning in the Nairobi Game Park, we went to an elephant orphanage that rescues elephants and rhinos that would have otherwise died in the wild and raises them until they are ready to be released out into the wild. As if that was not enough interesting animals for one day, we then went to a giraffe center where we were able to hand feed giraffe. Lastly, to close out our day we had a late lunch at an Ethiopian restaurant, and they provided for us special Ethiopian coffee before returning back to the guesthouse.
