River club day!!!

We had a slight change of plans for our excursion day; originally the plan was to hike to a waterfall, then go to the river club for lunch and spend the rest of the day there. However, there hasn’t been any rain in Jarabacoa in about 2 weeks and the water wasn’t falling, so we decided to just stay at the river club all day. Most of the students went swimming/wading in the river (totally optional) and much fun was had. The river club served us a lunch buffet of salad, rice and beans, and the entree was bbq chicken and sweet bbq beef. After lunch we hit the billiard tables, ping pong, and basketball area before heading back to Mission of Hope.
Dinner was grilled chicken legs and french fries; after our devotional time everyone packed their suitcases and dispersed for the night. We played pickleball and shot hoops, as well as played cards and party games. The wise ones got some sleep, but I think some kids stayed up all night. We woke up at 2 am local and got the room turned over to help the cleaning ladies at Mission of Hope, then loaded the busses at 3 am and headed to the Santiago airport for our flight. I’ll send out a short little post once we get through security/emigration at the airport, and another when we get through customs at JFK.
