Kon ta bay?

We are completely “gassed” as the kids say. It has been a long, hot, full day filled with laughter and joy. This morning we had a light breakfast after devotions and then headed to Emmy Berthold Elementary School again at 7:15. Our service for the day involved teaching the PE classes for the whole school. There were ten classes between the lower and upper elementary students. Levels 1-4 were 45 minutes each and levels 5-8 were an hour each. The team divided in half so one group of six worked with the lower grades and the other group worked with the upper grades. The lower grades played Hot Potato, Duck, Duck, Goose, Sharks and Minnows, and Red Light, Green Light. The upper grades played kick ball for a half an hour and then switched and played soccer for a half and hour. All of this was outside with part of the time under a ramada and the other part out in the full sun so after four hours in heat and humidity as well as all of the physical activity drained everyone. The students at Emmy Berthold loved interacting with our team and they did not want us to leave. We shot some great videos and took hundreds of pictures over the course of the morning. At 12:15, the whole school gathered to thank us, sing us songs, and take a group photo. It was an incredible morning and many of our kids were teary eyed when the school sang to us and also as we left. The team really did an amazing job running the classes and we are so proud of their efforts!

Since we had all burned off so much energy, lunch at Subway was a great way to cool off and refuel. Ready for some down time, we spent a couple of hours in Willemstad shopping for souvenirs. Shopping complete, we headed back to the church to get a shower and have dinner. Jerseley went all out once again and made rice, shrimp, beef and broccoli, red beans and corn, a vast array of vegetables, homemade pickled cucumbers, and bread pudding with ice cream. Unbelievably delicious and many had seconds after heaping firsts.

Dishes washed and dinner items put away we did our evening devotions and debrief. We are all in need of a good night sleep as we will be getting up at 5:00 tomorrow.
