Church-Church-Hike

Yesterday (Sunday) was jam packed from the moment we woke up (6am) until the moment we settled in for the night (late).

We started the morning at our host church, Kaua’i Christian Fellowship and enjoyed worship and a message from Pastor Rick. As soon as that ended, we hopped in the vans and headed over to St, John’s Episcopal church. We were greeted by Kahu (Pastor) Kerry and her children’s choir with beautiful leis and enjoyed being a part of their service. We were able to meet some of the children we will be working with throughout the week. They are so sweet!

After church, we were blessed with an authentic Hawaiian lunch (shown in the picture). A traditional dish of pork and peas with rice, pancit and cascarone.

After lunch, we changed into some outdoorsy clothes and drove up to Waimea Canyon. Kahu Kerry guided us up the mountain and it was beautiful. We stopped a few times along the way and enjoyed breathtaking scenery! God is an amazing creator. We hiked 3 miles which ended at a beautiful waterfall (not the one shown in the pictures).

After the hike we drove back to our home church, debriefed, talked about our upcoming service days, and headed to bed.

At the end of yesterday, students were eager to start serving!
Thank you for your prayers. Please continue to pray for the Valley students and also the children we are working with. Pray that our students continue being a light to everyone they come in contact with. This has been an amazing trip already.
Saturday and Sunday were both pretty wet and rainy. Thankful for the rain that keeps Kauai the greenest of the Hawaiian islands! It truly is beautiful!
