Goedeavond,

Today was a glorious day filled with worship, excellent teaching, and time to rest while enjoying the wonders of God’s creation. After a delicious breakfast of eggs (all of our eggs are from Lucas and Esther’s chickens), hash browns, and sausage, we worshipped with the Iglesia Bida Nobo congregation here where we are staying. Pastor Thijm gave an excellent message (in Dutch and English) based upon God’s provision related to the feeding of the 5,000. God always has a way of making something when we have nothing to work with and even when we do have something to work with, He always seems to multiple what we have. The problem is that often we lack the vision as to His obvious hand in these situations or think we don’t need Him to accomplish the deed He has divinely put before us. Esther served as our translator and she did a phenomenal job! Then this evening we worshipped with the International Church of Curacao which is a church that officially launched three weeks ago but has been growing from a group of twelve that began meeting in October. This service was in English and was focused on worship. The worship leader gave a very thought provoking message about the initial time worship occurs in the Bible in Genesis when Cain and Abel were asked by God to provide an offering of their first fruits. She emphasized how God showed them what was and was not an offering of first fruits and the rewards as well as consequences of both. Many of the students as well as Bill and myself were truly struck by how both messages perfectly paired with our team devotions last night and this morning.

Following the service, we headed to Kokomo Beach (the same Kokomo Beach from The Beach Boys Kokomo song). After a delicious lunch, we swam, snorkeled, and sunbathed. Among the many sea and land creatures observed were iguanas, an octopus, puffer fish, rainbow fish, parrot fish, and tangs. The weather was perfect and the whole team is starting to look sun-kissed :) Once again Jerseley fed us well with beef stew, rice, fried plantains, and ice cream.

Praising God,

Lisa
