Day 3: Spending time with our local brothers and sisters in Christ.

Today was another high of 27 degrees, with the blessing of some light snowfall in the morning. To start out day 3, Team Alaska attended our host church’s service. This was a great opportunity to hang out with the entire congregation (of all ages). It was extra special seeing the team connect with the kids within the congregation and invite them to Tuesday’s art camp.

After having lunch, we took the team sledding on a huge hill at Nikiski Elementary School. The team got to experience the joy of soaring down the hills, and were eager to embrace this aspect of the full Alaskan experience.

Our third day was closed out with a special time playing, sharing and eating with our host church’s youth group. This was a fabulous time of connection and laughter while encouraging one another with personal testimony. Many members of the team courageously chose to share their testimonies of how God has provided and moved in their lives so as to spur the group on in their personal walks with Christ. After a powerful time of sharing, s’mores were had by all, followed by several epic dodgeball matches.

Tomorrow is an exciting day as we will travel to another part of the state to experience Alaska from a different view. In the town of Seward, the team will have the opportunity to learn more about the local wildlife at the Alaska Sea Life Center Aquarium, as well as explore all the area has to offer. Our team is greatly looking forward to this opportunity to view more of this gorgeous state and to visit some of their local stores.

Please continue to pray for the team’s health in this chilly climate, for our upcoming art camp, and safety as we travel. Additionally please pray that God continues to use this trip to teach the students more of who He is and that they continue to be bold and zealous in our mission to love and serve others.
