Saturday morning, we headed to the park in town. “We don’t need to go and get anyone,” Andrew said. “Just start throwing the football around, and the kids will come.” And they did. We were only on the green for a few minutes before we were joined by a growing number of children - some we had met the day before at the pool, and some were new friends.
We taught American football and threw the frisbee, talked, played cards, and did whatever we could to make them feel welcome and loved. And our students got a few lessons in Footy (Rugby)! Don’t worry; it was Touch Footy! No slamming into other people today. :)
We ended our time with another sausage sizzle, and headed back to BCS dorms. On the way, we saw a very rare bird - the Wedge-Tailed Eagle!! He was quite large, in the middle of the road, and lunching on expired kangaroo. The entire bus reacted about the unfortunate kangaroo, while Andrew McGillivray worked patiently to help us understand just how rare of a bird we had just seen. It was a true NatGeo moment. :))
Dinner, worship, impromptu kangaroo spotting, Australian constellations, debriefing, and then we were super blessed by Zeke P. leading devotions and an amazing time of encouraging each other one person at a time.
Loud game of Mafia, and then sleep!
We have one more day in Brewarrina tomorrow, and Monday we drive the ten hours to Wamberal in one shot. :)
