Tanzania: Safari Day One

After our experience getting stuck in the mud, we continued on to our next adventure. We drove back to Arusha and grabbed some breakfast and coffee at a cute little shop and then loaded onto the safari jeeps. It took four jeeps to take our whole crew and the drivers were so amazing! Once at Tarangire National Park the drivers popped up the tops of the jeeps so we could stand up and look out the top. In my jeep we learned all kinds of new information about safari animals like the fact that a baby elephant can walk under the mother until it is about one year old. As we looked at all the animals we marveled at how we serve such a creative God who designed all of these animals down to the smallest detail! We saw a leopard hanging out in a tree, several parades of elephants, giraffes, antelope, meerkat, baboons, and more.

Mid day we had boxed lunches at a picnic area inside the park where little monkeys kept trying to steal our food. And they were super sneaky. We had to keep all of our food inside the boxes and keep them closed while eating. One monkey managed to run down the table and steal an apple from Kristi. After lunch we drove around for several more hours looking for animals and then headed to the Karibo HHando and Coffee Lodge.
