After spending the morning at the primary school, we were invited to attend a traditional Maasai Tribal Ceremony celebrating the circumcision of several of their young children. In their custom, they circumcise boys around 10 years old and there is great pressure on the young boy to show no signs of pain or squirm and there are no pain meds. The teens who are already circumcised wear black fabric around their shoulders to show they are circumcised. This is a celebration by a large family group who live together in a Boma, which is a fenced in community with many houses or huts. The entire community comes out to sing, dance, eat, and hear preaching in celebration of their young boys being circumcised.
On our way to the ceremony, the road gradually became more difficult to drive the bus on so we parked the bus and walk the last bit to the Boma.
For the parents reading, we did not eat the pots of food. :)
