Tanzania Day 5 Continued

Today we wrapped up our 3-Day medical clinic. What an honor it was to serve alongside Zoe Hope and help in the tremendous work they are doing in an otherwise isolated area of Tanzania. The very primitive hospital we worked out of for the clinic is unaffordable to most of the Masai people, and many of them rely on this annual clinic for all of their medical care. We served over 300 Masai people, offering them a medical examination, essential vitamins, needed prescription medications, eye glasses, and spiritual counseling. Many of them claim to be believers but mix their faith with traditional practices that do not align with the Bible. Every person who came through the clinic heard the gospel, and was prayed over before they left. Approximately 2 dozen people gave their life to the Lord and several recommitted their lives to Jesus. All of them were connected with the local church with local pastors working onsite with us. Our students were given a tremendous array of experiences, including learning to dispense medicine, explaining the importance of hygiene and vitamins, teaching parents how to administer medicine, interviewing family members to assure safety at home, sitting in a consult with a toddler who had a tumor on his head, observing the removal of a cyst from a patient's wrist, draining a bladder through an abdominal incision, and caring for a child in the last hours of his life. Three of our students even had the opportunity to travel with a woman to a hospital an hour away and sit in on an emergency c-section! We finished three days of clinic exhausted and beyond grateful for these experiences. We have all grown tremendously in our faith, and our understanding of God and His work on the earth. Now we move into two more days of ministry here in Ketumbiene, Tanzania!
