Final Day of VBS

This morning, we woke up to the sound of heavy rain as we prepared for our final day of VBS. Despite the downpour on our way to Baba Dogo, our students were unwavering in their commitment to serve. They rallied together, ready to pour their hearts into one last day with the children.

With the rain limiting outdoor activities, our sports and games teams had to think on their feet. They quickly adapted, bringing energy and creativity to indoor play until the weather cleared. By the afternoon, we were able to take the fun back outside, filling the schoolyard with laughter and joy. Meanwhile, the surprise, sing and dance, and Bible story groups gave their absolute best, making every moment count as they shared God’s love with the students one last time.

After lunch, we embarked on a deeply impactful experience—home visits. In small groups, we held hands with students and walked them home through the slums, accompanied by social workers. Even on our third day of visiting, the reality of their living conditions was heartbreaking. Our students, however, responded with incredible intentionality, kindness, and love. They encouraged and prayed for the families they met, offering words of hope and support in the midst of difficult circumstances.

The evening brought a special dinner invitation from Mary and Wallace, the founders of MOHI. These two remarkable individuals embody what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Their generosity and hospitality were overwhelming as they welcomed all 30 of us into their home, prepared a meal, and shared their powerful testimonies. Mary, having grown up in the slums herself, founded MOHI to create opportunities for others to have a brighter future. Today, thousands of lives have been transformed because of her faith and dedication. Sitting in their home, hearing their stories, and witnessing their hearts for ministry was truly inspiring.

As we settle in for our final night in the guest house, many students can’t believe how quickly the time has flown by. Tomorrow, we will return to the school for a soccer game before heading to the airport for our journey home. Please keep us in your prayers for safe travels.
