Sunday Funday

We had the blessing of attending both church services this morning at the two churches we are serving with while we are here. We started out at Kauai Christian Fellowship, which is the church we are sleeping at, and then headed over to St. John’s Episcopal Church, which is where we are serving the majority of the week. While we were at St. John’s, they allowed us to sing two worship songs and read scripture. It was powerful to see them worshipping with us and they were very touched by seeing young students praise the Lord. They also sang some songs in Hawaiian and preformed a hula worship dance and song. Lastly, they commissioned us and presented us with hand made “manna’s”, which are green leaf necklaces which the kids made for us before we came.

After the service, the congregation joined us for a lunch made by ladies in their congregation, and it was DELICIOUS! Then we got changed and headed towards Waimea Canyon. While we were intending to drive there to hike, the rain and wind got really intense when we got up the mountain, so we headed back down a ways and played Nuke-Em with the Ni’ihauan kids from the church.

After the hike we drove back to the church and the rain followed us down the mountain, so we stayed in, ate dinner, played games, and bonded as a group.

Our group is learning quickly to go with the flow, have fun even when the plan changes, and throw up chill vibes shakas when in doubt. We are grateful for a chill and early night in so we can get a good nights sleep to start our a busy week.

Please be in prayer for a good nights rest tonight, safety as we serve in manual labor tomorrow, and that we can divinely bond with the kids and share the love of Jesus. Also pray the rain lets up so we can make it to the beach tomorrow!
