Goedeavond,

“Yea, He is altogether lovely”, Song of Solomon 5:16. This morning, Kelsey reminded us to focus on the beauty and power of His love during her devotion. Jerseley shared his love for us with a breakfast of fried eggs, toast, assorted meats and cheeses, granola, yogurt, fruit, and beverages. Then it was time for church.

We were drawn into the Lord’s presence with jubilant worship in Dutch, English, and Papiamentu. It was so easy to focus on His beauty as we worshipped with this precious body of believers complete with a shofar. Ashlyn, Wesley, Ellie, and Luke F. led the congregation in a worship song (Great Are You Lord) after the offering and before the message. It was beautiful and they have been asked to do it again next Saturday night at the Papiamentu service. Pastor Thijm shared a message from Luke 11:2-4 and Matthew 6:8-11. He focused on God fulfilling our desire for spiritual food (bread) day by day and specifically this day. It was such a wonderful message about narrowing our focus to seeking Him above all else to provide for our daily need for fulfillment! Esther graciously translated the message (it was in Dutch) and she did a phenomenal job!!! Following the service, we had a time of fellowship with the people from the church and enjoyed coffee and snacks.

Today was our day of rest so after the service we headed out to Kokomo Beach with Lucas, Sem and Zoe. We enjoyed a tasty meal with a million dollar view. The kids swam, sunbathed, and built sandcastles all afternoon and a few of them are a bit pink (good thing we have Aloe Vera :)). The ocean was calm and there were not a lot of people at Kokomo today so that was a huge blessing. Salty and sleepy we headed back to the Youth Centre for church with the International Church. Once again we were blessed with amazing worship, this time in English and a teaching from Pastor Tim from Matthew 5:38-39 about Jesus eliminating the “eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth” concept of settling differences. He focused on our need to de-escalate situations, get out the sandpaper of forgiveness, and move forward. His love and power are all we need to resolve issues. When we finished the service, Jerseley had dinner ready and waiting and oh what a treat it was! Tonight he prepared roti with chicken, greens, and chilis. It was beyond delicious! He also made an herbal, kiwi, oregano, and ginger punch that was so unique and healthy!

The college group invited us to join them for Bible study after dinner so we headed straight to the study with full bellies. What an awesome time that was! There is a college professor from Minnesota visiting and he taught us about early church history. Among the many things he discussed, one was about Tertullian and his teachings related to the power of God’s love to help the early church meet all the needs of the body. It was incredibly informative and we all learned a lot! While we were studying Jerseley sent over a dessert of fruit crepes. All day we have been fed spiritually and physically to the point we are literally overflowing! It has been so beautiful to see our devotions woven into the messages and teachings we heard today. God wrapped our day in His love and it was so evident to all of us. Everyone had headed to bed and I am ready to get some sleep myself.

In His great love,
Lisa
