What a wonderful day! We started off singing “Happy Birthday” to the awesome Andrew McGillivray- our liaison here. Andrew had a profound impact on our students last year and is definitely doing the same this year. Everyday he is mentoring them by just being the godly man he is. The kids repeat his phrases and seek to be around him whenever possible. He takes us on walks and bike rides around the property and is so patient with us crazy Americans. He answers all our questions. They respect him and see how much he loves people and points them to God. His ministry to the aboriginal people is next level.
We then showed up to the park at 10am and welcomed the kids that wanted to hang out with us. There were about 50 people playing games and chatting with each other. The Aussies taught our students some “touch footy” which means flag rugby. They also played soccer and volleyball. Our students played so hard with everyone and left the balls they brought from America for them to have.
While the children were all gathered around eating lunch (sausage sizzle), Avery and Sierra shared their moving testimonies. The children definitely listened and we were so proud of them. We believe God will use these few days and the stories our kids had to tell of God’s great love to minister to these aboriginal children.
We then went back to the pool with anyone who wanted to join us. About a dozen kids did and that added to the day. We had dinner together with some staff at BCS.
Our team has made a tremendous bond with each other. Nights are filled with conversations after our devotion time. Tonight we will hear from Sam who no doubt will unpack “Give us this day, our daily bread” in a way that inspires us to trust Jesus.
