The day started with another excellent breakfast followed by a devotional by Shane Brandon and Tino Pulido on “Love does not envy or boast.” Following that, we were off to the Greek Bible College. Greece has only one Evangelical Bible college and we were given an in-depth tour by two of its professors in which we got to see its impressive library, attend a short chapel, and then join their students for snacks and conversations.
From the college we were off to lunch at the Tasty Corner in downtown Athens. French fries, tzatziki, feta cheese, fried cheese, Greek salad (but aren’t all salads in Greece “Greek?”…Yes, I am going to keep using that joke as often as I can!), and some delicious meat filled us all up! We also got to witness world-record soda can stacking by Zeke Coyle. We then took a short walk to a fortifying café for some much-needed caffeine to round out midday.
The second ministry visit of the day was to OnTheWay Homeless Project located in a low-income section of downtown Athens. Here, Christos, its director, runs the ministry out of his “Gift and Thrift” shop, where I think our students tried on every pair of glasses he had for sale! Christos explained his ministry of helping the homeless and working to unite other Athenian Christian organizations in this effort. Students first participated in prayer walks, then created water and snack kits for the homeless, and finally handed these kits out to the homeless of Athens. By 8:00, and 15k steps later, we were on our back to CosmoVision Center, a late dinner, and an “early” bedtime.
Tomorrow we head out to see the Parthenon and Acropolis!
