Wednesday - Chaka man

Today we started off right with breakfast and some much needed coffee to get us ready for another full day of work and play.

We all headed right for St. John’s Episcopal church to start painting the house. A crew was outside cleaning the entire backyard, clearing away brush to be able to see the ocean, pick axing large roots, and planting new spider plants around the house. The crew inside finished cleaning and started priming the house for paint. By the end of the day, the yard looked beautiful and the entire house had multiple coats of primer so we can start painting the house on Saturday when we come back.

During this time, Kahu Kerry took a carload at a time to drive to where some of the students we are working with this week live. It was a sombering and impactful moment for many of our students to see the impoverished lives these students that are so full of joy live. What a great reminder to be grateful for all we are blessed with and have joy no matter the circumstance.

In the afternoon, the students from Hawaii came over for our last day of the STEM Bible camp. We started out leading them in some fun kid Bible songs with motions, then split into two big groups. The stem group taught about chemical reactions by making silent fireworks, Diet Coke and mentos, and slime. The Bible and craft group taught about Jesus feeding the 5000 and the Easter story by eating goldfish and ritz crackers and making cross bead necklaces.

Now we are all headed to the ocean with our Hawaiin friends where some of the locals from the church are going to teach us how to surf. We can’t wait for our last night with these kids to pour into them the love of Jesus and receive their joy.

Tomorrow we will have more of a chill day spending time with Pastor Rick at Kauai Christian Fellowship and will end the day with a luau. Continue praying for health, continued strength, and further unity and love for Jesus in the group.
